AI Insights

Other systems measure activity. Yellowdig Insights understands community.

Ask your communities a question in plain language and get an answer with the methodology behind it. Set the question to keep running, and Insights will tell the right person when the answer changes. All of it grounded in what your students actually say to each other.

Ask anything.
Then let Insights keep asking.

Most analytics tools now let you ask a question in plain language. Insights does that, and then goes a step further. It’ll keep asking on your behalf, week after week, and tell the right person when the answer changes.

The AI Assistant

Ask in your own words. You get an answer, the methodology behind it, and the option to save it as a report you can share or come back to.

No query language, no ticket to institutional research, no waiting until someone has time to pull it.

Every answer traces back to the posts it came from, so you can read the conversation behind the number instead of taking it on faith.

Animation showing the Insights AI Assistant workflow. It begins with a prompt field that says “Ask AI assistant anything,” then shows the user asking, “What are my first-gen students worried about right now?” The assistant analyzes the organization, reads posts, comments, and replies, and returns, “First-gen students are worried most about workload and stress right now. Here’s the breakdown.” A chart labeled “Student Concern Themes (Past month)” lists Workload & Stress, Major/Program Fit, Family Issues, and “+3 more” with horizontal bars.

Agentic Workflows

Describe the question you want answered on an ongoing basis, and Insights builds a workflow that runs on its own. A workflow isn’t a keyword filter. It weighs several factors, reads history and context, and forms a judgment about what it finds before deciding whether anything needs a person’s attention.

Step 01

Describe it

Tell the AI Assistant which question matters to you. It builds the workflow with you, in plain language.

Step 02

It runs on its own

Your question runs against the community on a schedule, so nobody has to remember to pull a report.

Step 03

It weighs context

When the answer changes, it reads history and corroborating signals before deciding the change matters.

Step 04

A person decides

It routes to the right advisor, faculty member, or administrator with its reasoning attached. The human takes it from there.

Advisors use workflows to catch disengagement early. Faculty use them to notice what they’d otherwise miss in a large community. Every workflow can be viewed, edited, paused, or switched off, and we log every action it takes, with the reasoning behind it.

The question you ask
depends on your job

Insights isn’t one dashboard for one office. It answers your questions for your particular seat. One platform serves leadership, student success, enrollment, and faculty.

Academic leadership

How engaged are my students, across every program?

What are my students most worried about right now?

What’s the hot topic this month?

Are my students building durable skills for an AI-first world?

Student success

Which students should I reach out to first?

Which advisors’ students are most engaged?

What should we change to support students better?

Are the students we reached out to re-engaging?

Enrollment leadership

Do the students we enrolled feel like they belong here?

Who needs a conversation this week?

Which cohorts are connecting, and which aren’t?

How can we create more connection before classes start?

Faculty

Which topics are landing, and which are falling flat?

Where could I improve my course?

Who has gone quiet, and when did it start?

Who is isolated from the community?

Belonging. Durable skills. Retention.
All from one source.

Institutional Belonging Index card. The text says "Institutional Belonging Index (IBI)" and "Measures how connected and interactive the community is." The score is 68 out of 100. A radar chart includes Community Coverage, Conversation Depth, Mention/Reaction, and Cross-Group, with scale labels 100, 50, and 25.

Belonging

The Institutional Belonging Index and Meaningful Engagement Score read peer interaction, conversation depth, and cross-group connection as 0 to 100 scores you can track across programs and terms. Both measures draw from published research on belonging and persistence.

Durable skills card for Collaboration. The score is 74 out of 100. A green progress bar appears above labels "Example University: 100th pct" and "Global: 94th pct." A trend line runs from Jan 2026 to Aug 2026 with values 54, 61, 31, 20, 51, 78, 81, and 72.

Durable skills

Communication, collaboration, and critical thinking, measured from the work students are already doing. No assessment to administer, no rubric for faculty to score, no survey to send. Drill from the program level down to the community and the individual student.

Retention outcomes card showing Projected Term-to-Term Retention Lift of +1.4% to +2.1%, with supporting text that says improvement in semester-to-semester retention for engaged students and a small "Projected" label.

Retention and outcomes

Projected retention lift for your programs, grounded in verified results from case studies at partner institutions. No other platform in higher education backs a retention outcome with a contractual guarantee.

The strongest predictors of student success
are the hardest to see

Your systems can tell you a student’s GPA, their credit load, and the last time they logged in. None of that tells you whether they have anyone to turn to, whether they’re contributing ideas or just finishing tasks, or whether they’re building the skills employers keep saying they can’t find.

Those things happen between students, in conversation. Your Yellowdig community is the one place on campus where that conversation is already happening in a form you can learn from. It’s your data, about your students, and no other platform on your campus is sitting on anything like it.

Regular and substantive interaction,
documented as it happens

Facilitating discussion about course content is one of the qualifying forms of substantive interaction, and it’s what your Yellowdig community does natively. The record already exists, timestamped, in the words of the people who wrote it. Your community isn’t a proxy for substantive interaction. It is substantive interaction.

No two institutions approach this the same way, and we haven’t found one report that fits everyone. So we scope this work with your team, build the reporting to your requirements, and deliver it with you.

RSI documentation

Evidence of instructor and student interaction, course by course and term by term, in the format your reviewers ask for.

Accreditation and regulatory review

Data exports prepared ahead of a review instead of reconstructed during one, scoped to what your accreditor or auditor actually requires.

Your Yellowdig data,
wherever your institution needs it

Not every question needs a dashboard. For institutions running their own warehouses, dashboards, or AI tooling, your community data is available directly.

API access

Pull community, engagement, and participation data into your warehouse, your BI tools, or your student success platform.

Event-stream webhooks

We push interaction events to your systems as they happen, so downstream tools work from current data instead of last night’s export.

How we think about
student data

A tool that reads student conversation has to earn trust before it earns adoption. Here’s where we draw the lines for safety and privacy.

1

Nothing hidden gets analyzed

Insights works with the posts and comments students share in their communities, already visible to their classmates and instructors. It doesn’t read private messages, follow students around the internet, or look at anything outside Yellowdig.

2

Your data stays yours

Analysis runs inside Yellowdig’s own environment on AWS Bedrock. We don’t use your community’s content to train AI models, and we never sell it or hand it to third parties.

3

AI recommends. People decide.

Insights never takes action on a student by itself. Workflows route to a person with the reasoning attached, and your institution can audit, edit, or switch off any workflow.

4

Privacy and ethics built in

AI analysis defaults to anonymity. Individual identities are only analyzed when necessary for the task. AI features are labeled, tested, and built with guardrails for hallucination and bias.

5

Every number shows its work

Each measure carries its definition, its methodology, and the research behind it. Where there’s too little data for a score to be reliable, Insights says so instead of showing you a number you shouldn’t trust.

6

We meet the standards you're held to

FERPA, SOC 2, and privacy regulations. Transparent policies and a decade of trust.
